OH0/OZ2M - Pre/post Nordic VHF Meeting trip
Dates are subject to change when the dates for the Nordic VHF Meeting have been announced.
All who are on VUSHF DX Most Wanted DX should have a fair chance. MS QSOs will only be made with stations complying with the IARU Region 1 MS procedure.
QRG: 70,290 MHz, first period. Whatever frequency I am on it is the right one so zero in om me!
Rig: 100 W and 7 el.
FAQ
- Q: Will my chances of working you improve if I don’t read any of the information you post prior to asking you a question? A: No, on the contrary
- Q: Don’t you think it is a good idea that I don’t send the report when I respond to your CQ? A: No
- Q: I have invented my own MS messages don’t you think they improve the communication? A: No, they do not. Use only IARU Region 1 VHF Committee Meteor Scatter procedure messages. Otherwise you slow down things and may even jeopardize the QSO
- Q: I am not on VUSHF DX Most Wanted DX can I have a sked? A: No
- Q: How can I ensure that you have the patience to work me? A: I have a lot of patience for stations on VUSHF DX Most Wanted DX
- Q: How to work you on split? A: Look for me calling e.g. CQ S950. Don’t put your TX on the agreed frequency but the DIFFERENCE between the stated QRG and the agreed QRG I should listen for you. E.g. I say I transmit on 290 but in reality it might be on 290,4. If I call CQ S950 then you should transmit 340 kHz lower even if this is not on 950!
- Q: On meteor scatter when do I know the QSO has been completed? A: Check out Shouts
- Q: When do you start operation? A: Check out Shouts
- Q: When do you stop operation? A: Check out Shouts
- Q: What is your CQ QRG? A: Check out Shouts
- Q: What is your CQ QTF? A: Check out Shouts
- Q: Why do you have such a focused way of operating? Why not go for the more casual and chatting style? A: Focused operation is the only way to work as many stations as possible
- Q: Don’t you think it is to much work for me to turn my antenna to you? A: No, the effort of turning your antenna can hardly be bigger than making a DX-pedition
- Q: Why do you send other reports than 26 it is confusing? A: We send reports that comply with the IARU Region 1 VHF Committee Meteor Scatter procedure on signal and duration reporting

5X1EME - EME from the pearl of Africa
5X1EME - EME from the pearl of Africa!
After some very successfull DXpeditions to the Gambia past year (C56EME with 361 inits on 144 MHz, a worldrecord, and 11 inits om 432 MHz), Bonaire (PJ4X) and Curacao (PJ2/PE1L), Rene, PE1L will now try again to make Moonbounce QSO's from Uganda on 144 MHz and 432 MHz with EME mode JT65B. Uganda: the pearl of Africa.
This time Eltje PA3CEE will join the party again. He was also joining in Kenya (5Z4EME 2009), Mauritius (3B8EME 2010) and the Gambia (C56EME 2011). Don't ever change a winning team!
Callsign is the special call 5X1EME, very suitable for WSJT. A special moonbounce permit is requested.
Locator: KJ60gh.
Rig is 2 x 8 Xpol yagi, TS-2000, Gasfet preamp and enough EME power.
Frequency: TX/RX 144.134 MHz
5X1EME always first.
There are serious plans to have a small 70cm setup too... Only for the really big guns.
The plan is to leave May 21st and build up the station before the weekend. We try to put our first signals Friday May 25th (Eltjes birthday!) to the moon. KYFC. We first have to get the license. Callsign is still a bit insecure but we have good faith in obtaining 5X1EME.
We want to be active at least during two whole weekends when there is good activity in combination with good moon conditions. Last operation presumably June 3rd.
During the free time we want to check the quality of Ugandese booze and play with some wild monkeys.
There's a good possibility for internet/loggers... If so, we will connect to NØUK so now and than. We also want to make small impressions on YouTube on a regular basis if possible.
If internet will be low, we’ll try (one way) communication through Twitter: http://twitter.com/pa3cee or http://twitter.com/AtleticoTeamExp in order to inform with short messages.
See our website http://www.emelogger.com/uganda with the latest updates/blog/news and further info about the team members.
Tips how to QSO with us:
* Add 5X1EME and KJ60gh to your call3.
* Please call us when you CAN copy us. No need to have a good decode from us, you will decode us when we call you.
* DON'T stop calling us when we are in QSO with someone else, after a QSO we will call the next station but only if he was TX'ing the period before.
* Don't hop around, choose a freq to call us and stay there for a while. If you stop TX'ing, listen the next period and then change freq if you want.
* We will not TX 73, if a QSO is complete by RX'ing 73 from you we call CQ or another station. (QSO is complete if both stations received both calls, a report and one or more R)
* Please send 73 after you got our RR, its good to know for us that we can call the next station.
* From time to time we have to turn antenna's (by hand); we have to stop 1 or 2 periods TX'ing than, please continue calling: we will RX!
* Condx will become better during our stay, so don't panic and try later! We’ll do our best to get you in the log!
All QSL via PA3CEE. See QRZ.com or website: http://www.pa3cee.tk
